A HISTORY STORY: Chili
The modern dish we know as chili, also known as chili con carne (chili with meat), does appear to have roots in the American West, particularly the State of Texas. An old legend holds that immigrants from the Canary Islands brought a recipe for chili with them when they settled San Antonio in the early 1700s.
Chili con carne, meaning "chili with meat", is a spicy stew containing chili peppers, meat, tomatoes and often pinto beans or kidney beans. Other seasonings may include garlic, onions, and cumin. The dish originated in northern Mexico or southern Texas.
Ingredients
1 pound ground beef
1 onion chopped
3 green yellow and red peppers
1 garlic
2 cans red kidneyBeans one light one dark, 1 can of black beans
2 cans of tomato soup
1 can water (if it is thick)
2 teaspoons of salt
2 teaspoons pepper
2 teaspoons chili powder or more if you like
Cook the beef, onion, peppers , and garlic together. When finished pour into a oven prof dish with lid add the rest of the ingredients stir well and back at 350 for an hour or so. Make sure to leave some room at the top for extra so it doesn’t boil over. Stir every half an hour.
Make Spaghetti and add the chili.
